He Who Has Ears, Let Him Hear
Daily I awaken into a day that the Lord has made, rejoicing and glad in it, and wondering how in the world I will ever bridge the seemingly unbridgeable gulf that separates me, as one who serves Jesus, from those I encounter, who do not know or even seek the Truth found in Jesus.
LIGHT LIFTING
While I am not blessed with “eloquence or superior wisdom” (1Cor 2:1) with which to bridge the gulf, I have devoted my love of music to lifting God up, trusting in His promise that, “…I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.” (John12:32) If I do the light lifting of conveying His message in song, He will do the heavy lifting of infusing the message with power to work within the heart and soul of the listener. That, at any rate, is my hope.
SINGING FROM EXPERIENCE
In this musical selection, “Oye, Shema, Hear”, I am addressing one suffering from abortion. A hand is extended, a path to peace is offered, a joy is revealed in the midst of even the deepest wound. I sing as one who suffered from my own abortion experience, and after 25 years found peace in Jesus.
HEAR, O ISRAEL
Oye means “hear” in Spanish, and Shema is the same in Hebrew, touching on that portion of Hebrew Scripture that is at the core of Jewish prayer: "Shema, Israel”, or “Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one," (Deut 6:4). My heart resonates with this appeal that all people would hear the promises of forgiveness, healing, and freedom, all of which are fulfilled in Jesus.
